I’m going to be super honest with y’all… I meant to post this recipe the day after Thanksgiving but I was busy having fun with family and forgot/didn’t have the time…
OOPS.
Soooo I’m assuming you don’t still have leftover turkey BUT good news is that you can make these turkey apple sage paninis with normal deli counter turkey wooo! Or maybe you’re having turkey for Christmas dinner?! You’ll have leftovers then too. USE IT FOR THESE PANINIS.
I got a panini press last year for Christmas and it has totally upped by panini game. I used to just use a cast iron skillet and burger press to make my paninis but now I have this fancy-not-really-fancy panini press that makes life so much easier and gives your paninis those pretty grill lines. The one I have is only $45 and would be a great gift for any one who likes to cook (or just loves paninis) on your Christmas list. Plus, it’s extra awesome because it’s a 5-in-1 counter top unit that works as a contact grill, panini press, full grill, full griddle, and half grill/half griddle – so awesome right? I just love it.
Okay, back to this recipe… turkey apple sage paninis! We’ve got freshly sliced sourdough bread topped with roasted turkey (protein!), bacon (why not?), apples (crunchy and sweet), sage (herb-a-licious), dijon mustard (fave mustard), honey (extra sweetness), and brie (because you need cheese to melt everything together)!
SO. MUCH. FLAVOR.
But not too too much flavor… it all flows nicely together to create a delicious panini! Ready for the recipe?!
I THOUGHT SO.
turkey apple sage paninis
Ingredients
- butter (at room temp/spreadable)
- 12 slices or your favorite bread (I used fresh sourdough loaf from the bakery)
- 12 slices roasted turkey breast (about ¾ pound)
- 6 slices of cooked bacon
- 1/2 apple; cored, cut into wedges, then thinly sliced
- 1 bunch of sage, leaves separated
- 6 oz brie, sliced into 6 pieces
- dijon mustard
- honey
Instructions
Heat panini or grill press to medium-high. Butter one side of each slice of bread. Top the non-buttered side of one piece of bread with 2 slices of turkey, 1 slice of bacon, a few pieces of thinly sliced apple, 1-2 sage leaves, 1 slice of brie, a squirt of mustard and honey, then the second piece of bread (buttered side up). Place the sandwich on the panini press then close the lid to press the sandwich down (or in a grill pan using a burger press or heavy pot to squish the sandwich). Grill until cheese has melted and the bread is lightly browned on both sides with grill marks. Repeat with remaining ingredients/sandwiches. ENJOY.
Off topic kind of here for a second… but are y’all done with your Christmas shopping yet or have you not even started?!
I kicked butt this year and had all but one person (my nephew Aidan because what do seven year olds want?! – if you know PLEASE TELL ME) done before December even started. I love to get all my shopping done before December so I can really enjoy the holiday season. I do still have to wrap everything but I find that very enjoyable! I plan to go to TJMaxx or Home Goods this week and stock up on festive wrapping paper, ribbons, and tags then have a Christmas present wrapping session this Sunday with hot cocoa and Christmas music 🙂
Last thing, are any of you females looking for a holiday party dress?! BECAUSE I FOUND THE BEST LBD. I bought this Satin-Trim Midi Dress from Banana Republic and OMG IT’S SO BEAUTIFUL and flattering and everythinggggggggggg. I also bought this Velvet Dot Flare Dress from LOFT a couple weeks back and it’s also super beautiful and festive 🙂
One more thing… I’m 99.99999999% I need either this shimmer chiffon pleated dress or this velvet bodice midi dress for NYE. Thoughts?!
If you try this recipe, let me know! Leave a comment or tag a photo #appetitesanonymous on instagram!! I’d love to see your turkey apple sage paninis in action. Peace out, friends!
